This year's Convention will be a week long series starting on June 14th! We are keeping with the same virtual outline as last year, bringing attendees one presentation each day. This event allows us to deliver fantastic education to you safely and virtually, to the comfort of your home or office.

Division of Financial Regulation 2021 Priorities and Legislative Session Recap

Presented by T.K. Keen - Oregon Division of Financial Regulation
This presentation would provide an overview of the division’s regulatory priorities over the coming year and outcomes and next steps from the division’s most recent legislative session. Topics include regulatory review of rate and form filings of life and health insurance products, current market dynamics, recent legal developments and changes, market conduct activities, and recent administrative enforcement activities. Additionally, the presentation will include a recap of recently passed legislation in Oregon from the 2021 session, highlight key upcoming rulemakings out of the legislative session, and the division’s plans for legislation in future sessions. The focus of the presentation will be on providing key legal updates for Oregon underwriters.

This presentation will provide an overview of the state paid family medical leave laws, with a particular focus on the recent changes in Oregon and Washington.

2021 Legislative Health Outcomes and Upcoming Policy Issues
Presented by Tom Holt, OAHU Lobbyist - The Holt Company
This presentation will cover significant legislation passed or not passed affecting health benefits, and expected policy actions coming up for the 2022 and 2023 Legislative Sessions. This will include bills passed that will directly affect benefits requirements, as well as affect the cost of benefits and related administrative issues. I also will outline issues that are expected to be the subject of upcoming Interim work toward 2022 and 2023 legislative action. The overall objective of this presentation is to provide health benefits brokers with a working knowledge of significant 2021 enacted health policy changes and major changes under development.

Health Savings Accounts and HSA-qualified health plans have grown exponentially in the last several years and most experts agree that the rate of growth will continue to increase under health reform. The number of client questions about these tax-advantaged accounts will almost certainly increase as well. This course is designed to provide agents with the information they need. The highlight of the presentation will be the examples we will run through to make sure attendees understand the eligibility and contribution rules as well as the frequently and not-so-frequently asked questions about account based health plans HSAs, HRAs & FSAs.
