Unpacking Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Presented by Lou Radja
There is no doubt about it, we are living in unprecedented and changing times. A relentless and unforgiving global health pandemic that has not only claimed countless lives, but also turned our world upside down. The great steps we are all taking in response to the pandemic are not without side effects; isolation, stress, great resignation, health challenges, virtual leadership, change fatigue, mental health issues… In addition to it, we are also facing an economic downturn that has amplified and exacerbated the already fragile situation. Well, as if that wasn’t enough, we also find ourselves in the middle of a racial/diversity tsunami across our country/world serving as a reminder of the systemic inequalities that continues to plague us and how far we still have to go. As Insurance Professionals dedicated to helping millions of Oregonians find, purchase and use their health care coverage…, it is critical to lead equitably & inclusively, to adapt and thrive with an increasingly diverse team and people we serve! Unpacking DEI is a great opportunity for us to come together, hold space and explore proven strategies to help us continue making strides in our industry and the communities we serve!

Some specific themes and concepts we’ll unpack include:
• Increased fluency & comfort level around DEI…
• Unconscious Bias
• Cultural competence
• Allyship
• Ubuntu
