2019-2020 OAHU State Board of Directors.

The OAHU State Board of Directors is looking for motivated volunteers and leaders to help us pursue our mission of promoting access to quality care by a cooperative effort between consumers, agents, insurers, providers, the legal system and the government through effective legislation and educational programs.

Serving on the board often enriches the personal and professional lives of volunteers, and provides board members with the opportunity to meet accomplished industry professionals as well as network with up-and-coming talent.

Key points to consider when nominating candidates:

  • All OAHU members in good standing are eligible to submit names for consideration.
  • Nominated candidates should currently be OAHU Members in good standing or have completed NAHU membership application and selected OAHU has their state chapter.
  • Self-nomination is permitted and encouraged.

Per OAHU Bylaws, Section 2 and 3:

Section 2. At least three (3) months prior to the date of the annual meeting, the President shall appoint a Nominations Committee. The duties of this committee shall be to solicit and receive nominations and to prepare a slate of candidates. The Nominations Committee shall have general charge of the election process including the preparation, distribution, collection and counting of ballots, and reporting the results.

Section 3. The Nominations Committee shall prepare a ballot containing the names of all qualified nominees and distribute ballot materials to all active members at least one (1) month prior to the date of the annual meeting. The ballots shall be cast in person at the annual meeting. Additional nominations may be made from the floor of the annual meeting while nominations are open for a particular office.

The following positions are open for nomination:

President-Elect (three-year term)

The President-Elect, in the absence of the President, shall preside at all meetings of this Association and the Board of Directors and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President or Board of Directors.

Secretary (two-year term)

The Secretary will attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and the membership and will record all votes and the proceedings of the meetings.The Secretary will perform like duties for the Executive Committee or other committees; will give, or cause to be given, notice of all meetings of members and special meetings of the Board of Directors; and will perform such other duties as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors or the President.

Awards Chair (two-year term)

The Awards Committee Chair is responsible for collecting information and preparing submission for NAHU awards as required by the board of directors,report regularly to the board of directors any progress toward the achievement of awards and if needed, assist the local chaters with awards submissions.

Media Relations Chair (two-year term)

The Media Relations Chair is responsible for being the editor of the OAHU monthly newsletter, maintaining the website and the Association’s social media presence in order to promote the work and drive membership. This includes promoting upcoming chapter events, changes and recognition. Further, the Media Chair will assist the other members of the Board as needed.

HUPAC Chair (two-year term)

The HUPAC Chair is responsible for promoting the OAHU PAC and HUPAC at all the state chapters and coordinate efforts to build the PACS with the Legislative Committee Chair and Lobbyist.
